Don’t give away your soul lest you be tempted. Let me give you an example. We could say lets us jump into the water to save someone. If we can’t swim, we will drown. If we can… will we be able to go the distance in saving them? Is this really our job… to save someone? I know it has been said according to Galatians 3:13 “every man hung on a tree is cursed,” therefore, only Christ can save!!
Lets us preserve ourselves not for ourselves, but for the glory of God.
Here’s yet another example. If we follow acquaintances into the bar in order to socialize as was Jesus’s custom, do we take on as much as them internally? Do we drink like them or smoke like them? When we do,we will not be up to par in all of our faculties. Then how will we be able to sustain ourselves, even to the point of glorifying God?
Bottom line, we must remain intact lest we be tempted then slip and fall.
